Steve: 20-year anniversary

We are very fortunate to have several employees who have progressed within the company over many years. We value the loyalty and experience individuals like this bring to the team.

One team member who continues to embody the Premier Forecourts and Construction ethos is senior contracts manager, Steve – now celebrating twenty years at the company.

Steve began his time with us as a carpenter looking after the company’s (then) new maintenance contract with Total. Since then, his role has evolved, working his way up to site manager for a few years, before taking the opportunity he was offered to become a contracts manager. Most recently, Steve has been promoted to senior contracts manager and now oversees many of our larger and more complex projects.

Before joining us, Steve was working as a self-employed carpenter, carrying out loft conversions on local residences.

Over the years, Steve has developed a myriad of skills, and gained a number of industry specific qualifications.

Steve explained why he continues to enjoy his role:

“I like the challenges the work brings, although some of them are very testing. I also like the diversity and the wide range of different contracts we get involved with. But most of all, it is a great company to work for, with great support from the directors and everyone I have worked with along the way.”

Steve is also very proud to have been involved with so many varied projects over his 20   -year career with Premier Forecourts and Construction – he explained:

“There are many different projects that I am proud to have been involved with. Lots of different contracts: re-pump works, tank installations, Esso’s UK Synergy rebranding program, Aston Martin’s re-fuelling installation at its new St. Athens facility, and most recently MFG’s EV program.”

When asked if he would recommend his profession to others, he said:

“I definitely would recommend it, even though it can be stressful at times, but it’s also very rewarding, with such a wide variety of work, you are never stuck in a repetitive situation.”

Steve has watched the industry change considerably in the two decades since he first started with us and is all too aware of how it is now evolving at an increasingly rapid speed. He sees even greater changes on the horizon with the move to electric vehicles:

“The industry is already evolving with the government looking to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles. This is why we are so heavily involved with multiple clients in installing Electric Vehicle Chargers. This is the way of the future, so here at Premier Forecourts and Construction, we are adapting in all the ways required.”
