Our team at Premier Forecourts & Construction recently laced up their walking boots and took on the Swansea Coastal Path to raise vital funds for the Leon Heart Fund, successfully raising an impressive £400 in the process.
The Leon Heart Fund, founded on 30 October 2009, was established to support children and families who attend the Cardiac Wards at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and the Special Care Baby Unit at Singleton Hospital, Swansea. The charity provides small grants to help parents with hospital expenses and to place essential medical equipment in the homes of children with complex needs when NHS funding isn’t available. Additionally, the Fund supports local charities and has plans to back the new Special Care Baby Unit at Singleton Hospital.
The charity’s work was inspired by Leon Montanari, who was born with a heart condition that required a transplant at just 10 months old. Despite frequent hospital stays, Leon was a joyful, generous boy. Sadly, he passed away in 2009 at the age of 13. His mum, Julie, created the Leon Heart Fund to honour his memory and recognise the exceptional care provided by the Paediatric Cardiology Department at University Hospital of Wales.
One of the charity’s recent achievements is the opening of Leon’s Quiet Room at University Hospital of Wales—a space designed to offer comfort and privacy to families during challenging times.
We’re proud to support this wonderful cause and would like to thank everyone who helped us reach our £400 target. Every donation will make a difference to the lives of children and families facing incredibly tough circumstances.
Thank you for your support!
