From trainee to leader: Stuart Trew marks 15 years of continuous service

We believe long-term commitment and career progression go hand in hand. This year, we are delighted to celebrate 15 years of continuous service for Stuart Trew, Contracts Operations Manager — a milestone that reflects not only personal dedication, but also the growth and evolution of the business itself.

Stuart’s journey with the company spans far longer than 15 years. He originally joined the business in September 2001 as a trainee, working his way up to site manager while gaining experience on sites across the UK. After a short break in service in January 2010, Stuart returned in January 2011 as a Junior Contracts Manager.

Since then, his progression has been consistent and well-earned — moving from Contracts Manager to Senior Contracts Manager, and into his current role as Contracts Operations Manager in 2021. In total, Stuart has spent close to 24 years working with the business, with the last 15 being continuous service.

Looking back on his career, Stuart reflects on both his personal development and the company’s growth:

“I’m proud of my own personal development over the years, but I’m equally proud of the growth and development the company has achieved during that time. That growth has created real career opportunities — not just locally, but across the UK — and being part of that journey has been incredibly rewarding.”

Stuart credits the people and culture at Premier Forecourts & Construction as the key reasons he has stayed with the business:

“Quite simply, the people. I genuinely enjoy working with the teams we have now and those I’ve worked with over the years. Even when challenges arise, it remains a very positive and enjoyable place to work. The dedication and work ethic across the business is exceptional, and I feel a strong personal connection to both the company and the people within it.”

Throughout his time with Premier Forecourts & Construction, Stuart has overseen some of the company’s most complex and high-profile projects, including Shell Tonypandy and Shell Britannia, achieving successful outcomes in the face of significant challenges.

Reflecting on how the business has evolved, Stuart notes:

“The most significant change has been the scale of growth — from outgrowing our original offices in Cross Hands and relocating to larger premises in Swansea, to the influx of new people, ideas and opportunities that came with that expansion. The move towards electric vehicles and the innovation happening across the fuel and forecourt sector is also hugely exciting. Whatever direction the industry takes next, I’m confident that Premier will continue to adapt, evolve and grow.”

Stuart’s career is a clear example of the opportunities available at Premier Forecourts & Construction for those willing to learn, develop and commit for the long term — and we thank him for his continued contribution to the business.
