We undertook an extension to the existing sales building at Shell Horsley so that the site could provide a Waitrose retail offering. At Horsley we experienced a number of challenges: the site was positioned in an affluent conservation area with a planning requirement to maintain an appearance consistent within the local area using local flint, which is synonymous with local properties, namely Horsley Towers.
The site kept trading for fuel and retail sales for the majority of the project, only closing during the final stage of the project when the shop fit took place. We also held a mental health awareness event in the hotel adjacent involving all contractors within the project.
