Congratulations to Dafydd Allcock, celebrating five years’ service

We are proud to celebrate a significant milestone for one of our dedicated team members, Dafydd Allcock. This September marks five years since Dafydd joined our team, and in that time, he has made great strides, growing both personally and professionally within the company.

Dafydd joined Premier Forecourts & Construction in September 2019, as part of a shared apprenticeship scheme with Cyfle Building Skills. When he first started, Dafydd was relatively new to the industry, having previously only worked as a labourer for a bricklaying gang. He was unsure of which area of construction he would be best suited to, and so when first joining us, he spent time helping in various departments, gaining a broad understanding of how our business operates.

His enthusiasm and willingness to learn quickly caught the attention of the management team, leading to an exciting opportunity in our commercial department.

Within a few months, Dafydd transitioned into the role of Trainee Quantity Surveyor, studying at University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) whilst simultaneously working with us. Initially, his responsibilities included assisting with Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and processing purchase orders. However, Dafydd’s dedication and keen eye for detail didn’t go unnoticed, and he soon found himself entrusted with the responsibility of running projects from start to finish – a considerable achievement in such a short span of time.

One of the things Dafydd enjoys most about his role is the process of estimating. His passion for numbers and precision has driven him to excel in this area, ensuring that our projects are completed on time and within budget. Dafydd’s commitment to his craft is evident in his recent accomplishment of achieving his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Quantity Surveying, which is a testament to his hard work and dedication to professional development.

When asked about his most memorable experiences with us here at Premier Forecourts & Construction, Dafydd fondly recalls the annual Christmas parties. These gatherings, which he says are always fun, have left a lasting impression on him and are a reminder of the strong team spirit that defines our company culture.

When asked if he would recommend this profession to others, he replied in the affirmative: “Yes, I would recommend it, because you get to learn a lot about different aspects of the industry, so you are constantly learning, which makes each day interesting.”

Looking ahead, Dafydd is optimistic about the future of the industry. He anticipates a growing emphasis on the installation of Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers and other renewable fuel infrastructure as we approach the 2030 Net Zero target. His forward-thinking mindset and adaptability make him a valuable asset as we navigate these changes.

As we celebrate Dafydd’s five-year anniversary, we also look forward to many more years of collaboration and success. His journey from a trainee to running his own projects is an inspiration to many, and we are excited to see where his career will take him next. Congratulations, Dafydd, on your five-year milestone!
